Behind the lime baskets, Yorah rubbed one piece of chalk until his fingers turned white. He wanted to draw one straight line for the builders, just one, but the wall looked taller than a camel’s back. Tap, thump, scrape went the hammers. “I can go,” he whispered, and stepped out from his shady corner.
The sun made the stones hot and dusty. Yorah carried his chalk past the mortar tub, past the cart, and past a man lifting a block bigger than a door. His sandal strap snapped. He tied it with string and kept going, even though his knees felt wobbly.
Then he saw a stone nobody had tapped. It sounded hollow—tok! Inside was a curled scrap: KEEP BUILDING. Yorah drew his straight line beside it, small but true. When he hurried back, chalk dust still white on his fingers, can you spot the secret stone that went tok?
