🎨 How to color it

Give her jersey a bright sky blue, her shorts a deep navy, the soccer ball classic black and white, and the goal net a pale gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the shoe laces, striped socks, and net squares, then switch to broader strokes for the open grass. Try a golden sunset glow behind the clouds so her blue uniform pops as she races in.

Every day after lunch, Juno raced the fence line before practice, tapping the last post just as the noon whistle squealed. She liked the slap of her cleats on dry grass and the way her ponytail snapped like a flag. The team drilled passes near the goal, but Juno kept to her strip of field, chasing speed instead of the ball.

Until one day, a silver practice ball bounced over the hedge with a paper kite tail tied to it. It zigzagged past the cones, humming in the wind. “Hey, wait for me!” Juno shouted. Because of that, she sprinted after it into the scrimmage lane; because of that, the ball curved around the goalie’s post and tugged everyone into a wild new play.

Juno didn’t stop at the fence. She matched the wind, nudged the ball with the side of her shoe, and sent it skimming toward the net just as the whistle blew. Her coach laughed, the team cheered, and the grass smelled bright and crushed under her feet. Next time you see her flying toward that ball, can you spot the runner who finally found the field that fit her?
