🎨 How to color it

Color the dragon emerald green, the princess’s dress lavender, the single flower golden yellow, and the rose bushes pink and coral. Use sharp colored pencils for the gate scrollwork, crown jewels, and tiny dragon scales, then switch to broader strokes for the castle walls and dress panels. Try a soft blue-to-peach sky behind the towers so the handmade flower feels extra warm in the middle.

Beside the old rosewalk, Orin pinched soft petal-cloth between his claws, trying to make one flower fit for Princess Elowen’s empty vase. Snip, fold, tuck—the cloth smelled like dust and sunshine, but every blossom flopped. At last he stepped beyond his warm hedge bed to ask the gate’s iron curls how roses held their shape.

The stone path cooled his feet, and a thorn caught his tail ribbon with a tiny rip. Orin kept going. When he pressed the gate latch, something rattled inside: not a key, not a bell, but a seed in a silver husk, hidden where no gardener had thought to look. “I can make it a home,” he whispered.

He carried soil in his own clawed hands, folded his torn ribbon into a bow around the stem, and breathed one small puff of heat. The seed opened into a gold-centered flower, sturdy and real. Elowen brought her vase outside instead. If you trace the flower between them, you may find the fold where a dragon’s proud claws made one flower fit.
