🎨 How to color it

Layer cool limestone gray over the castle blocks, deep slate blue on the metal roofs, muted pine green in the distant forests, and pale lavender on the mountain shadows. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny brick courses, crenellations, and arched window tracery, turning the page as needed to keep your strokes aligned with each wall. For a mischievous finish, let warm torchlight spill from the open gate and small windows while the high clouds stay faint and cool.

Every dusk, Bastio tested each lock by ear: click, clack, obedient silence, while snow smelled like iron on the high road. Until one day his smallest brass key giggled inside the gate. Because of that, the portcullis sneezed upward and every tower door copied it; because of that, half the castle began wandering from room to room, curious as cats. Bastio chased the key through stairwells, pockets jingling, until finally he used it on the pantry cupboard no one respected. Inside sat the queen’s missing joke ledger, still warm with peppermints, and the gate settled into obedient silence.
