🎨 How to color it

Color the princess’s crown sunny gold, her dress lavender and rose, the cauldron deep forest green, and the shelf bottles in teal, amber, and violet. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny stars, bottle stoppers, and curtain stars, then fill the larger cauldron and drapes with smooth marker strokes. Try making the rising potion smoke fade from pale mint near the spoon to silvery blue at the top, like a secret turning visible.

Behind the west pantry, where dried mint smelled sharp and old scrolls crackled in their cubbies, Liora dipped her grandmother’s plain wooden spoon into the quietest cauldron in the palace. She wanted one single sparkle for the Winter Window before the moon reached the roof. The spoon looked ordinary, but Grandmother had wrapped it in blue thread and whispered, “Stir only when the bubbles stop asking.”

So Liora waited. The bottles blinked in candlelight. Plip, plop went the last green bubbles, then nothing but the soft hiss of steam. Her knees ached. Her crown slipped. At last, the spoon warmed in her hand and tugged left, not right. “Now?” Liora breathed. She stirred backward three slow circles.

A silver curl rose, carrying tiny points of light that did not fly to the window. They settled on the plain velvet curtains instead, star after patient star, so no child waiting in that room would ever feel the dark had forgotten them. Ever since, palace potion-room curtains have worn stars; can you find the first ones Liora stirred from the quietest cauldron?
