🎨 How to color it

Color the calm left head in icy turquoise, the grinning right head in ember red, the striped horns in bone cream, and the snowflakes in pale blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the horn bands, belly stripes, wing ribs, and flame curls so the narrow shapes stay crisp. Try fading the dragon’s shared body from cool teal on the snowflake side to warm orange near the flames.

Between the cold vents and the warm cracks of Steam Ridge, Sable set himself a tiny dare: count one frost breath, then one flame breath, without tucking either chin. The left head breathed first. Hushhh—silver cold rolled out, smelling like stone after snow, and little flakes clicked softly against his claws.

The right head waited until the last flake melted on a scale. Then came fffff—gold heat, dry as toast crumbs, curling into the air without burning a single fern. Sable counted both breaths under his heartbeat. “I did not duck,” he whispered, and both necks stood a little taller.

Then the ridge answered. Where frost and fire met, the gray mist spun itself into bright rings, not from either breath alone, but from the space between them. Sable watched, wonder-wide, as the rings drifted up like silent bells. Next time you see the snowflakes and the flames around him, see if you can find the place where his two breaths become one hush.
