🎨 How to color it

Color the center maple leaf pumpkin orange, the rounded oak leaves golden brown, the acorn caps dark walnut, and the berry circles cranberry red. Use chunky crayons or markers to fill the big leaf sections first, then dab the tiny dots and berries with one careful touch. Try making the little wind curls pale blue so the warm fall leaves look as if they are floating through a cool breeze.

The story behind this coloring page

High in the leaf canopy, Pip heard tap-tap-tap from acorn caps landing below. He wanted one shiny cap for a tiny drum, so he slipped from his cozy stem and rode a soft orange breeze. Down he twirled past oak leaves, berry stems, and peppery black dots of seeds.

Halfway down, a curly wind-whorl bumped his edge. “Follow me,” it whispered, smelling like rain and bark. Pip followed, but the breeze tugged away one of his crisp points. At last the whorl set him beside a smooth acorn cap that rang, tink, when he tapped it.

Pip carried the cap back to a low branch, softer at the edges now. When he drummed, the whorl hummed with him. If you trace the curls between the acorns, can you hear Pip’s tap-tap-tap?
