Every day before the Meadow Fair opened, Kippa slipped between the paint tents and dared herself to hide one silly mark where no grown-up would spot it. She had tucked mustaches on moon banners and freckles on clay suns, but the grand peace ring smelled of fresh ink and looked far too serious. “One tiny giggle,” she whispered, dipping her brush in coral paint.
Until one day, her curly little heart landed in the wrong stripe. Because of that, the stripe wriggled like a tickled worm. Because of THAT, every daisy around the ring popped open with a papery pfft, and the paisley curls began pointing toward the picnic hill, where late-arriving dancers were wandering in circles.
Kippa chased the moving curls, shoes squeaking in dewy grass, until finally she added one sunny dot at the center. The whole ring settled with a warm buzz, now a map, a joke, and a welcome all at once. Next time you spot the smallest heart near the peace ring, see if it still looks like Kippa’s tiny giggle.
