🎨 How to color it

Use pink for the fluffy frosting, lemon yellow for the candle flame, sky blue for the striped wrapper, and red for the plate dots. Chunky crayons are great for the wide frosting and wrapper stripes; grown-ups can help little hands stay inside the candle if they want. Try making every floating star a different bright color, like tiny party fireworks above the cupcake.

The story behind this coloring page

Pip Builds a Birthday Rocket — On the shiny bakery table, Pip patted dough. Pat-pat! Read the full story →

On the shiny bakery table, Pip patted dough. Pat-pat! He wanted to build a birthday rocket cupcake with his own two hands.

He swirled soft frosting high. He pressed stripes on the paper cup. “Blastoff soon!” Pip called, smelling sugar and warm cake.

Then—plink!—paper stars bounced from the party box and landed all around. The rocket needed a sky!

Pip stuck in one candle. Flicker, glow, hooray. His hands had made a cupcake rocket and a starry trip, and next time you see those stars, can you whisper, “Blastoff soon!”
