Past the fence where the path turned dusty, Tavi tied a grass blade around his wrist and gave himself a dare: carry one happy buzz to every flower before the warm light slid off the tallest stem. He zipped past daisies that smelled like pepper and rain, skimmed through blade-thin grass, and tapped each bell-shaped blossom with a tiny “bzz-zz!” The air flashed gold around the giant sunflower, and his joy felt too big for one small chest.
At the sunflower’s center, he landed among hundreds of neat seed bumps, ready to shout his biggest buzz yet. Then the whole round face answered without a voice. Each seed held a speck of sun, and each speck seemed to pass his buzz along in a silent, shining circle. “You started before me!” Tavi laughed.
So he changed the dare: not faster, wider. He danced from seed to seed, and the sunflower sent the gladness outward—petal, grass, daisy, bell. Next time you spot the bee on that huge sunflower, can you find where Tavi’s sun-shout is traveling next?
