🎨 How to color it

Color the moai statues warm stone gray, the Andes peaks snowy white with lavender shadows, the Pacific waves deep blue, and Chile’s long map outline bright red along the edge. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big mountains and ocean, then help little hands slow down for the tiny hikers, hut, and shrubs along the path. Try making the sunset circle golden orange so the gray moai look extra calm and mysterious.

The story behind this coloring page

Tala’s Stone-Nose Surprise — Every day, Tala counted pebbles on the cliff path while the sea went hush-splash below. Read the full story →

Every day, Tala counted pebbles on the cliff path while the sea went hush-splash below. She wanted to hear the old stone heads whistle, so she waited by them after breakfast, after lunch, and even after the gulls stole her cousin’s hat. The moai stayed quiet. “Maybe they only whistle for patient ears,” Tala said, tapping one pebble into her pocket.

Until one day, a sneezy wind blew dust from the biggest stone nose. Because of that, Tala spotted a tiny reed tucked underneath, where nobody had thought to look. Because of that, she tickled it free and the whole path went PHEE-woo! The palm leaves wiggled, the hut door popped open, and the waves clapped the rocks. At last, Tala put the reed back under the nose for tomorrow’s patient ears; can you find the stone face that kept the sea’s hush-splash secret?
