🎨 How to color it

Layer the tractor in weathered red, the farmer’s cap in denim blue, the barn in classic white with deep red trim, and the newly turned furrows in umber and sienna. Use sharp pencils for the tire treads, plow bolts, barn siding, and many parallel field lines, building darker shadows where the soil curls over itself. Let the distant hills fade from pale spring green to soft blue-gray so the busy plowed rows stay rich and close.

The story behind this coloring page

Under a sky rinsed thin as milk, Elias set the small brass seed whistle on the tractor dash and turned toward the upland field. He wanted the first row straight, as his sister had always dared him to make it, but the old plow shivered in the cold earth and leaned left. A sweet, dusty note slipped from the whistle though no mouth touched it. The sound smelled faintly of clover hay and rain on iron.

Elias stopped beside the half-made furrow. Inside the whistle, hidden under a dent he had polished for years, a dry pea rattled like a tiny bell. His sister had tucked it there before the last planting, saving one seed from the happiest harvest they ever shared. He pressed the whistle to his lips, and its clear chirp ran across the ridges, past the bare trees and over the barn roof.

The plow answered by curling every row gently homeward, not crooked but listening. By sundown, neighbors followed the bends back to the yard, laughing, carrying bread, coffee, and seed sacks. Ever since, those upland furrows have turned toward the barn, because joy that big would not stay buried.
