🎨 How to color it

Try a deep navy cab, a rust-red PORT LOGISTICS container, warm gray gantry cranes, and teal water beside the cargo ship. Use sharp pencils or fine liners for the container ribs, crane cables, wheel rings, and tiny warehouse windows, then switch to broader strokes for the road and sky. Add a sunset gradient behind the angular clouds so the handmade port machinery feels lit from one side.

By the lockers, under the smell of diesel and salt, Gideon kept a cardboard harbor folded inside his lunch bag and challenged himself to add one true sound before the evening horn. Not a recorded sound—no cheating, you understand—but a thing he could build with his hands: a washer for a bell, bottle caps for wheels, thread for crane cables. He stepped past the safe yellow line with the tour group, shoes buzzing on the gritty pavement, and held a paper cup toward the terminal’s clanks as if catching rain.

Then the thread in his model crane snapped. Small price, embarrassing price: he spent his last break knotting it with borrowed twine while the real gantries creaked overhead, lowering steel boxes with the patience of giants. The knot made the little crane uneven, but when he tugged it, the cup tapped his lunch tin—clink, hush, clink—and suddenly his harbor had a sound no phone could steal. He carried it home smelling of rope dust and salt, proud of the crooked knot that made the whole port answer.
