🎨 How to color it

Color the dump truck bright yellow, the gravel pile sandy tan, the crane steel gray, and the traffic cones orange with white stripes. Use chunky crayons or markers for the truck’s large cab and raised bed, then switch to a sharper pencil for the tire treads, rocks, and crane triangles. Try making the falling rocks darker near the truck bed and lighter as they tumble into the pile.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Dump Trucks Tip Up — Behind the tall crane, Jasper kept a tiny red lever in his pocket. Read the full story →

Behind the tall crane, Jasper kept a tiny red lever in his pocket. It looked like scrap, but his dad had polished it smooth and said, “Only pull it when the rocks refuse to move.” All morning, the dump truck grumbled while gravel sat stubbornly in its bed: clack, clack, stuck.

Jasper smelled dust and hot rubber. He climbed up, clicked the red lever into a secret slot, and whispered, “Ready?” The truck bed lifted like a giant elbow, and the rocks rushed down with a rattle-roar. Ever since, dump trucks tip up to pour their loads, and if you peek at the raised bed, you might spot where Jasper’s little lever changed everything.
