🎨 How to color it

Color the tow truck sunny yellow, the little car berry red, the HELP and REPAIR signs bright blue, and the rolling hills soft green. Use sharp colored pencils for the chain links, tire treads, and small grille lines, then switch to markers for the truck’s wide doors and hood. Add a sunset stripe behind the hills so the raised hook and tilted car feel extra adventurous.

Under the wide hill sky, Pip tightened the last bolt on a tow truck bell he had built from a soup can, two washers, and a bent spoon handle. The rescue parade would roll past the repair signs at noon, and he wanted his bell to clang louder than the cicadas buzzing in the grass.

He tested the pull cord. Clink. Not clang. Pip laughed anyway and climbed into the tow truck, whose chain rattled like a metal snake as it lifted a tiny car from the roadside. “One more try!” he called, wind pushing the smell of warm rubber and clover through the cab.

Then the little car swung gently, and from inside its open glove box came a bright ding-ding-ding. Pip peeked in and found a brass bicycle bell cup, wedged behind old maps where nobody thought to look. He screwed it onto his homemade striker, pulled the cord, and the hill road rang like a celebration. Next time you spot that tilted car, imagine the secret bell singing under the wide hill sky.
