🎨 How to color it

Color the car carrier cab cherry red, the six compact cars in alternating sky blue and lemon yellow, the city buildings pale tan, and the roadside trees fresh green. Use sharp colored pencils around the thin railings, tire circles, and angled loading ramps, then fill the larger car doors with smooth even strokes. Try a soft gray shadow under each ramp so the tilted car at the back looks ready to roll aboard.

The warm cab smelled like peppermint gum and vinyl seats, and Rafi tapped the dashboard six times. He had invented a game: one soft whistle for every little car that climbed onto the carrier, until the whole truck had a secret song. Five cars were already tucked in place when the last silver one waited at the back ramp, its tires making a shy squeak on the metal.

Rafi stepped down into the cool street. Wind slid under his jacket and rattled the chains, ching-ching, while his uncle checked the mirrors up front. Near the curb, a paper grocery bag had split open, and oranges rolled toward the storm drain. Nobody was watching the ramp. Nobody was watching Rafi either. He wanted his sixth whistle badly, but he caught the oranges first, scraping his palm on the curb and losing one peppermint from his pocket.

“Hold still, little moons,” he whispered, setting the oranges safely by a shop door. When he climbed back, the last car eased aboard as if it had waited for him. Rafi whistled the sixth note, slower than the others, and the carrier’s chains hummed along. Next time you see the tilted back ramp, listen for six taps, one soft whistle, and the round little moons that did not roll away.
