🎨 How to color it

Color the camper truck buttery yellow, the pine trees deep forest green, the snowy mountain caps pale blue, and the lantern a warm amber. Use sharp colored pencils for the small curtain patterns, backpack buckles, log rings, and the smiling face around the cab. Try a sunset gradient behind the mountains so the chimney smoke stands out in soft gray curls.

The kettle clicked softly in the camper-truck sink, but Talia could not hang it over the fire without the little iron hook. She checked the drawer under the curtained window, the pocket of her backpack, and even beside the amber lantern. Outside, the pines whispered shhh-shhh in the cold, and the mountains wore blue snow on their shoulders. Talia pulled on her mittens and stepped down from the warm doorway. “Just one quiet cup,” she told the evening.

She searched by the stacked logs first. A splinter nipped her thumb, and the pan clanged when her sleeve brushed it. Then she knelt beside the empty stone fire ring, where ash smelled faintly sweet from yesterday’s pinecones. Between two flat rocks, where nobody would hide anything important, sat a tiny tin with a note curled inside: WAIT UNTIL THE FIRST STAR. The hook was tucked beneath it, black and patient.

Talia waited. The sky turned lavender. One star blinked above the tallest pine, and the tin gave a soft tick. Inside was a pinch of silver tea leaves, saved by the last camper for whoever was patient enough to look low and wait long. Steam rose from Talia’s cup in slow gray curls, just like the camper chimney; next time you see the stone ring, can you spot the place where Emberlight waited?
