At the lantern bazaar, Nilo polished one tiny bottle every evening and whispered, “No jump, no squeak.” He wanted to open the fizz bottle by himself before the moon bell rang. Pop-pop-pop went the corks around him, and each pop made his knees wiggle.
Until one night, his own bottle gave a loud PLOOF and puffed cold lime-smelling bubbles into the air. Because of that, star bubbles bounced over the awnings. Because of THAT, the night gate blinked shut and trapped the moon-moths outside.
Nilo held his striped wand tight. “This way, fizz!” he called, voice small but steady. He tapped once, and the bubbles zipped into a shining arch. Next time you spot his bottle, can you tell whether one last bubble is still saying pop-pop-pop?
