The skeleton’s hand is resting tightly around the tall broom, as if that scratchy old handle remembers every quiet flight home.
Have you noticed the tiny star on his crooked witch hat? Milo touched it gently whenever the night felt too big. The broom had belonged to his grandmother, who had tied the straw with three careful loops and told him it would always know the way through moonlight. The little house on the hill had gone dark, the bare trees stretched their branches, and the crescent moon leaned low over the clouds.
