🎨 How to color it

Use pumpkin orange for the big maple leaf, golden yellow for the oak leaf, ruby red for the oval leaf, and warm brown for the rake handle. The rake tines have lots of skinny spaces, so chunky crayons can swoop over them without needing to stay in every line. Try making the little falling leaves different colors, like a secret confetti trail around the rake.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Rakes Have Fingers — Under the cold grass, Bramble patted leaves flat. Pat, pat, puff! Read the full story →

Under the cold grass, Bramble patted leaves flat. Pat, pat, puff! He wanted one cozy blanket made by his own paws.

Then—psst!—a bent twig rolled over. “Need fingers?” it whispered. Bramble tied twig after twig to a long stick with scratchy vine. Scritch, snick, pull! The new tool combed the leaves into one proud pile.

Ever since, rakes have many fingers for gathering fall. Next time you see those skinny rake fingers, can you spot Bramble’s secret work?
