🎨 How to color it

Color the pig peachy pink, the muddy puddle chocolate brown, the wooden fence honey tan, and the rolling hills spring green. Use chunky crayons or broad marker strokes for the pig’s round body and the big puddle shapes, then add the fence lines more slowly. Try making the mud splashes darker at the edges so they look extra splashy around the pig’s kicking feet.

The story behind this coloring page

Behind the back fence, Nell tiptoed from straw to clover, hunting for the quietest spot on the farm. The hens clucked, the gate creaked, and the wind rubbed the trees with a shhh-shhh sound. Then a puddle whispered from the hollow, “Psst. Step here.”

Nell blinked. Puddles did not talk, not usually, and this one smelled like rain and soft dirt. She set one hoof in. Plop. The puddle giggled. She set another. Splish! The whole hollow laughed under her belly, and Nell laughed too, because the secret quiet place had been waiting for her noise.

So ever since, farm mud cheers when pigs run through it: splish, splash, hooray. Next time you see Nell’s flying drops, can you spot where the puddle first said, “Psst. Step here”?
