On the quietest hill above Letter Valley, a young lion named Lio carried one smooth wooden rung in his mouth. He wanted to set it where the morning sun could warm it, but the hill’s tall ladder leaned higher than his whiskers liked. The grass brushed his paws with cool, tickly tips. “Just one step,” he whispered, though his voice came out softer than a moth wing.
Then a thin shadow slipped from under the ladder and curled beside him. It was shaped like a line that had forgotten where to rest. “I am too short to reach the light,” it sighed, smelling faintly of dust and pine. Lio’s tail trembled, but he nudged his rung into place. Tap. The ladder settled. The shadow stretched down, then across the hill, making a strong corner where Lio stood.
From that morning on, every L kept one tall line for reaching and one long line for resting. And if you meet Lio on the quietest hill, can you find the brave little corner where “just one step” became enough?
