Every day, Milo tucked his tiny mitten map under his chin and raced through the knitting tunnel, sniffing for the cheese bell’s buttery smell. The map was only a scrap of wool, but Grandma had stitched one small M on it before she sailed away on the sock ferry.
One day, the tunnel began to wiggle—flap, snap, swoosh! Loops of yarn swung down like vines. Because of that, Milo had to stop at each twist and wait for the soft threads to settle. Because of THAT, he heard a quiet clink behind the big letter gate.
“Not yet,” Milo whispered, paws bouncing. At last the yarnstorm rested, and the mitten map fit the gate like a key. Ding! The cheese bell rang, warm and loud. If you peek at Milo’s paws, can you spot the mitten that waited with him?
