Every morning, Biko padded through the mist grove with his tiny pouch, collecting silver dew for the ink bowl. Drip, drop, hush—he liked the cool leaves brushing his paws.
Until one day, a bamboo stalk hummed back. “Wait,” it whispered, soft as wind in paper. Because of that, Biko sat very still instead of hurrying home. Because of that, he heard baby cranes peeping beyond the reeds, unsure where to land.
At last, Biko planted the humming bamboo beside the quiet pool, and the cranes followed its low song down. The mist curled around him like a blanket. Next time you see Biko holding his leafy staff, can you hear the drip, drop, hush?
