🎨 How to color it

Color the jack-o’-lantern a bright pumpkin orange, the curled stem moss green, the gloves creamy white, and the high-top sneakers cherry red. Use chunky crayons or markers for the pumpkin’s big rounded sections, then add the shoe stripes and music notes with a darker color. Try making each starburst a different candy color so the whole dance feels like a Halloween song popping in the air.

Under the bakery awning, Pipkin tapped one red sneaker on the cool cobblestones. His challenge was simple: make ten perfect stomp-claps before the cinnamon rolls stopped smelling warm. Stomp! Clap! Stomp! Clap! His vine arms swung, his toothy grin bounced, and a paper moon in the window shook like it wanted to giggle.

By the seventh stomp, the alley answered. Plink! Plunk! Tin-can lids, bottle caps, and one sleepy drainpipe copied his beat. “Who’s doing that?” Pipkin laughed. Out popped six beetles wearing shiny crumbs as hats, each clicking tiny feet. Pipkin stomped softer so they could keep up, and soon the joy was too big for one pumpkin. Next time you spot those music notes around him, see if you can count the beetles hiding in the stomp-clap song.
