Behind the practice garden, Zeko tucked a pouch of rice flour under his arm and invented Sneak-or-Snort. The rules were simple: leap the bamboo fence, toss one powder puff, and let friends guess where he landed before anyone laughed. Thump went his foot on the rail. Fwoosh went the white cloud. His sandals stayed neatly below, which made the whole thing funnier.
Soon the fence line smelled like warm wood, grass, and floury dust. Zeko winked so hard his eyebrow nearly escaped. “No peeking!” he called, though three sparrows, two beetles, and a very serious snail were clearly peeking. Every puff made curly shapes—dumplings, dragons, one cloud that looked exactly like Master Omi’s left eyebrow.
Then the pine trees answered. Their needles shook, and soft yellow pollen puffed out in tiny matching clouds. The branches were playing Sneak-or-Snort too, hiding their own giggles in the breeze.
Zeko bowed to the trees, shared his last pinch of flour with the fence posts, and declared everyone a winner. Next time you spot the sandals below, check whether the smoke curls are still snickering: fwoosh, thump, giggle.
