Every morning, Vina carried her basket into the star meadow and chose only the quietest eggs, the ones that made no rattle at all. The tulips smelled like sweet grass, and the clouds sat low and soft over the hills.
Until one morning, a tiny bunny with bright ears popped from behind a striped egg. “Ding?” said the egg in Vina’s basket. Because of that, every star above gave a silver twinkle. Because of that, the tulips turned their smiling faces toward a hollow in the grass.
At last Vina knelt there and found the nest bells, small and warm as jellybeans, waiting for her gentle hands. She set them in her basket, and the meadow rang, “Home, home, home.” Next time you spot Vina’s basket, can you imagine the quietest egg going ding?
