Under the clack-clack leaf bridge, Quimby tried every day to make a round wriggle wreath from mud pats and tiny twigs. He wanted to hang it over his pebble door before the leaf parade marched by. But every wreath went flop, plop, splat.
One day, a centipede named Ogg skittered past with so many feet that the dust went tickle-tickle. Quimby gasped. “Hold still—just a little!” Because Ogg curled to peek, Quimby tucked soft moss between each bend. Because the moss smelled sweet and stuck like jam, the wreath finally held its circle.
When the leaf parade arrived, Quimby bounced inside his own wriggly, tickly wreath and shouted, “I made it!” Next time you see all those little feet around him, can you spot the mossy bends that stopped the flop, plop, splat?
