🎨 How to color it

Color the massive tree trunk in layered umber and gray-brown, the toucan with a sunny yellow throat and tangerine bill, and the split-leaf plants in deep jungle green. Use sharp colored pencils for the bark grooves, vine lines, and leaf cuts, then shade each section from the outside edge toward the center. Try making the background foliage cooler blue-greens so the warm toucan and pale, twisting trunk stand forward.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the thick green hush, Caro tapped one root against the damp soil and invented a private game: Vine-Step. The rule was simple—touch three hanging vines with one leafy twig, then no shivering allowed. Caro wanted the bright rain token that Tavi the toucan had dropped on the far branch, a tiny blue seed that smelled like wet stone and thunder.

“Don’t tell the moss,” Caro whispered, and stretched past the comfortable fern shade. The first vine was cool. The second swung away. The third left a scratch along Caro’s young bark, and every beetle footstep sounded enormous. At last, Caro nudged the seed back to Tavi’s claw.

But the toucan only clicked his bill. “Keep it. You found the hush between swings.” Caro carried that hush home in every leaf. Next time you spot the toucan’s branch, see if you can trace the secret path of Vine-Step through the vines.
