Every evening, Juniper rolled her little star-stickered motorcycle along the empty fairground path, counting bumps: thump, thump, thump. She wanted a game fast enough to make her helmet feel fizzy. Until one day, she invented Maybe-Map: at every turn, she would ask, “What might be hiding there?” and steer toward the wildest answer.
Because of that, a smell of popcorn pulled her past the closed ticket booth. Because of THAT, a paper rocket swooped from the prize tent and fluttered into the motorcycle’s handlebar mirror. “Maybe it came from the moon!” Juniper cried, zooming after it through dusty gold light. At last, the rocket led her to the carousel shed, where the night guard was testing the music box. Toot-toot! Juniper tucked the rocket in her basket and bumped home, thump, thump, thump. Next time you spot the stars on her motorcycle, what might they be hiding?
