🎨 How to color it

Layer the unicorn’s face in pearl white, the flowing mane in deep teal, the sunburst rays in antique gold, and the tiny stars in sapphire blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the nested chevrons, scalloped collar, and narrow border lines, working from the center horn outward to keep the symmetry clean. For a dramatic twist, blend the circular halo from warm gold near the horn to cool violet at the outer points.

At the top of the sealed observatory hall, where brass rails smelled faintly of rain and old candles, Calira rubbed a hidden gold crest with the edge of her mane. She meant to make it shine before dawn, then slip away before the star-keepers praised her name. Between two marble panels, a gray dust-moth appeared, carrying a cold speck of night on its back. “Just one gleam,” it whispered, wings ticking like paper. Calira had saved only one bright breath in her horn.

You understand why she hesitated. The crest would stay dull; nobody would know what she had nearly finished. Still, she lowered her horn and let the breath spill, not onto the gold, but onto the moth. The speck burst into rays, then settled behind her head in a round, quiet blaze that lit every sleeping telescope. By morning, the moth was gone, the crest was plain, and the halo remained. Ever since, unicorn halos keep watch where secret generosity has passed, shining most clearly when nobody is waiting to be thanked.
