🎨 How to color it

Give the thick tire a charcoal gray, the rim rings a bright silver, the five lug nuts a sunny yellow, and the chunky tread blocks a muddy brown. For little hands, use chunky crayons and let each big tread block be its own little coloring spot. Try making every other tread block orange, like the tire rolled through a silly pumpkin patch.

Behind the tire shop, Dax whispered, “One bump, two bumps,” and rolled his wheel slowly. Thump, thump, thump went the chunky tread. He wanted to count all the bumps before the tickly air hose went pfffft.

Round and round, Dax counted. Then a tiny voice squeaked, “One car, two giggles!” It was a ladybug riding in the rim, counting Dax’s laughs. Dax honked, the hose went pfffft, and the ladybug wobbled but stayed put. Next time you see those chunky bumps, can you guess which one made Dax giggle first?
