Every day at the party speedway, Raya waved her little flag when the birthday truck rolled to the start line. She wanted the first lap to begin with a big vroom, right as the cake candles flickered and the balloons bobbed in the warm rubbery air.
Until one day, the truck rumbled, sneezed, and stopped. “Who’s in there?” Raya called. A squeaky voice answered from under the giant tire: “Me! I’m Tock, the tunnel mouse, and your engine tickles my roof!” Because of that, Raya climbed closer. Because of THAT, she found Tock’s shiny pebble stuck in the wheel track.
At last, Raya popped it free with her flag stick. VROOM! The truck bounced ahead, Tock cheered from his tunnel, and the first lap began. Next time you spot the waving flags, can you hear Raya’s big birthday vroom?
