🎨 How to color it

Color the dragon emerald green, his jeweled crown bright gold with ruby dots, the cape royal purple, and the castle stones warm gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny scales, crown beads, brick lines, and balcony swirls, then switch to broader strokes for the wings and cape panels. Try a pale blue sky behind the towers so the gold crown and purple cape feel extra grand.

From the high royal terrace, Orlan flicked his tail across the tiles and made a game: if his crown-shadow touched the silver bell mark before sunset, he could ring the old welcome bell himself. The air smelled of sun-warmed stone and flag cloth. But the shadow fell short, hiding behind the balcony rail like it knew a joke. “One more step,” Orlan whispered, and slipped from his comfortable perch into the narrow stair inside the tower.

Down he went, claw-tap, claw-tap, past dusty arrow slits and cool bricks that prickled his scales. To stretch his shadow, he paid a price: he traded the ribbon from his cape to a door-knocker shaped like a sleepy fish, and it opened with a brassy yawn. Beyond it lay a tiny round room where every castle flag’s shadow met in one dark star.

Orlan stood in the star, and the welcome bell rang without being touched. Its note rolled through the towers, warm as bread, and every window glowed. He hurried back with the secret instead of the ribbon: the castle had been waiting for his shadow all along. When you spot him on the terrace, can you guess where that silver bell mark hides from the high royal terrace?
