Under the soft grass roof, Tavi pressed two leaves together. He wanted a little basket for fallen flower petals, but the leaves flopped open with a papery slap. So he stepped past the warm den moss and into the meadow edge, where the air smelled like clover.
A butterfly bumped the tall flower and dropped a curl of dry vine. “Try weaving,” she whispered. Tavi’s paws got sticky with sap, and one stripe on his tail caught a burr.
