High on the blackstone rim, Orin stacked flat rocks into gates for a game he called Flame Maze. He wanted every young dragon to race through it by following marks he made himself. But moonmist slid up the volcano with a cold, wet smell, hiding the sharp cracks between stones.
Orin scraped one claw across a rock. Too quiet. He puffed smoke. Too pale. Then he whispered, “What if the path could glow?” He blew one careful ribbon of fire, twisting it around each gate like a bright thread. The wind hissed, but his handmade trail held.
By starlight, the others flew the maze without a stumble. Ever since, dragon fire curls in long, bendy shapes when a dragon is proud of making the way by hand. Can you find Orin’s secret maze curling through the sky?
