🎨 How to color it

Layer deep burgundy on the fairy’s rose wings, antique gold on her thorn crown and jewelry, and smoky violet across the pointed cathedral arches. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny vine scrolls, skull charms, lace edges, and rose petals, turning the page as you follow each narrow curve. For a dramatic twist, keep her gown pearl gray and let the roses shift from black cherry at the centers to dusty pink at the outer petals.

At dusk, when the rose chapel smelled of rain on stone, Vesper touched the first bell hidden inside a thorn bloom and set herself a private test: twelve chimes before the moon reached the high arch. The nave was her comfortable corner, all velvet shadows and familiar dust, but the twelfth bell waited beyond the iron roses where the wind made the glass flowers click like teeth. She slipped through, snagged a sleeve on a briar, and left one silver bead from her necklace shining on a thorn.

The last bell gave no sound. Instead, the thorn drank the bead, and a thirteenth note rose from under the floor—low, bright, impossible to keep. “Not mine alone,” Vesper whispered. She carried the ringing back through the arch, and every sealed rose in the chapel opened, answering one another until joy crowded the dark rafters. By moonrise, the rose chapel smelled of rain on stone again, but now it rang with a thirteenth bell.
