🎨 How to color it

Layer the ladybug’s shell in deep crimson, make the bold round spots glossy black, and color the pointed leaf emerald with sage veins. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny paisleys, petals, and dotted bands, turning the page as you fill each curved section cleanly. For a striking finish, keep the background leaves in cool blue-greens so the crimson shell feels almost jewel-like.

Every day, Veya pressed fern dust into paste and painted one quiet curve on her shell before the dew dried. She wanted to arrive at the dusk festival wearing a pattern made by her own small hands, not borrowed shimmer from the moth stalls. The studio smelled of crushed stems and rain-dark wood. Then her brush slipped, and the old worktable leaf split along its center vein.

Beneath it lay a seam of red earth, hidden where no one had thought to look. Because of that, Veya mixed the earth with sap and watched it bloom like sunset in a spoon. Because of that, each spiral she had already made seemed to wake, asking for patience, pressure, one more careful line. At last she stepped into the fern light carrying no borrowed shine, only the warm weight of hours she had shaped herself—one quiet curve before the dew dried.
