🎨 How to color it

Color the fairy’s dress lavender, her wavy hair honey yellow, the smiling cloud pale blue, and the rainbow bands red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Use chunky crayons to fill the big rainbow arches first, then switch to lighter strokes for the small stars, cheeks, and raindrops. Try making the paintbrush tip bright teal, as if this fairy is adding the very first splash of rainy color.

The story behind this coloring page

The Rain That Knocked — Every morning, Elowen zipped across Sunshower Bridge and painted six rainbow stripes before the cloud bells rang ding-ding. Read the full story →

Every morning, Elowen zipped across Sunshower Bridge and painted six rainbow stripes before the cloud bells rang ding-ding. She wanted today’s arch finished faster than ever, so her brush swished red, orange, yellow through the misty air.

Then—plip!—a raindrop landed on her nose and squeaked, “Hide me!” A warm wind had blown it away from its shower. Because Elowen stopped painting, the green stripe wiggled unfinished. Because the stripe wiggled, the rainbow began to hum and shake like a drum.

Elowen’s knees tickled, but she held her brush high and dashed to the waiting cloud. She painted one bright teal dot on the raindrop so its family could spot it. Plip-plip-plip, they cheered! Can you find the brave little splash that helped Elowen finish before the cloud bells rang ding-ding?
