🎨 How to color it

Color the fairy’s leaf crown and outfit in fern green, the wings in pale sky blue, the spotted mushroom caps in cherry red, and the daisies sunny yellow. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big wings and mushroom tops, then switch to a sharper green pencil for the leaf veins and tall grass. Try giving the acorn pouch two browns, light on one side and dark on the other, so it looks round and secretly full.

Under the hush-hush trees, Nico made himself a challenge: leave ten tiny gifts before the beetles rang breakfast. He tucked a seed under a fern, brushed crumbs from an ant road, and warmed one cold snail shell with his hands. Nobody clapped. Good. That was the secret part.

Then he reached the plain mushroom path. The caps were smooth as soup bowls, and little moths kept bumping them in the gray morning light. Nico opened his acorn pouch. Plip, plip, plip—he dotted each cap with bright dew so the moths could steer by sparkle. “Shh,” he told the grass, grinning.

By sunrise, the dew had sunk in for keeps. Ever since, mushrooms wear spots to guide sleepy travelers, and if you spot Nico waving between the grass blades, maybe you’ve found the secret giver.
