🎨 How to color it

Color the smiling cup pastel pink, the watermelon slices ruby red with mint green rinds, and the striped straw bright teal and white. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny seeds, flowered umbrella, and small lemon shapes, then switch to markers for the wide awning and cup. Try a cool lavender shadow behind the drink stand so the pink cup and red melon wedges feel extra juicy.

The story behind this coloring page

The Stand That Sparkled Twice — Under the lantern stand, Tavi pressed watermelon pulp through a cloth until her fingers smelled green and sweet. Read the full story →

Under the lantern stand, Tavi pressed watermelon pulp through a cloth until her fingers smelled green and sweet. She wanted her hand-painted drink sign to shine before the morning crowd arrived, but the letters stayed dull as chalk. Then, from behind the ice chest, a tiny cloud with silver feet drifted out and whispered, “Your sign is thirsty.”

Tavi did not run. She mixed one cup with crushed ice, a striped straw, and the last wedge of melon, then stirred in three careful turns. The cloud sipped, hummed like a hidden bell, and puffed two starry sparks onto her wet brush. Tavi painted the words again. This time, the sign flashed once for watermelon, once for welcome.

Ever since, every true watermelon stand sparkles twice when a maker finishes something by hand. Next time you spot those little stars near the cup, see if you can find where Tavi’s secret sparks landed.
