🎨 How to color it

Color the little knight’s armor silver, the shield deep blue with a gold emblem, the castle walls smoky violet-gray, and the pumpkins bright orange. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow arched windows, gate bars, bats, and tiny stars, then switch to broader strokes for the towers and path stones. Try a midnight gradient behind the crescent moon, fading from navy at the top to pale lavender around the roof spires.

Under a thin silver moon, Runa tapped each stone in the crooked path with her wooden sword. She had set herself a challenge: find the hidden joy-gong before the last star blinked out. From the warm guardroom, that sounded easy. Outside, the grass brushed wet against her boots, bats stitched black zigzags over the roofs, and the castle smelled of cold iron and pumpkin smoke.

At the gate, two pumpkin faces grinned as if they knew the answer. Runa gave one her ribbon for its cracked stem, and a tiny door inside its smile clicked open. “A secret for a share,” whispered a voice like wind in a bottle. Behind the bars hung not a gong, but a small bronze mallet shaped like a bat.

Runa struck the shield on her arm. Bong! The sound leaped from tower to tower, waking every window with golden light. Ghosts popped from the walls, not moaning but cheering, and the bats wheeled like tossed confetti. Runa laughed so hard she had to ring it twice more for everyone on the hill. If you follow the crooked stones, can you spot where the big joy first began under that thin silver moon?
