🎨 How to color it

Color the Madagascar outline sunset orange, the baobab trunks sandy tan, the lemurs soft gray with striped charcoal tails, and the chameleon bright lime green. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big island and tree trunks, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the lemurs’ round eyes and tail stripes. Try making the little clouds pale blue so the warm island shape feels like it is glowing over the forest.

Under the cool baobab, Suri sniffed the dusty air and wished for one sweet cactus bloom to bring back to her cousins. “Just one,” she whispered, as if the wind were in on it. She skipped past crunchy leaves, past a blinking chameleon, and over hot pebbles that pinched her feet.

At the prickly patch, no flowers showed. Then—psst!—a tiny beetle pushed through the sand beneath the lowest cactus pad. Suri crouched close. Hidden under the spikes was a pink bloom, folded like a secret cup, and inside it sat three drops of honey-sweet dew. Suri carried the dew home on a leaf, calling every cousin to taste. Next time you see the spiky patch, can you keep Suri’s secret under spikes?
