🎨 How to color it

Color the penguin charcoal black and snowy white, the striped scarf cherry red and teal, the iceberg pale blue, and the snowflakes icy lavender. Use chunky crayons or markers for the penguin’s big belly and the wide ice shapes, and don’t worry if little hands color over the scarf dots. Try making each scarf stripe a different pattern color so it looks extra cozy against the cool iceberg.

The story behind this coloring page

Orlo Counts One Still Snowflake — Every day, Orlo tried to count one snowflake before it melted on his beak. Read the full story →

Every day, Orlo tried to count one snowflake before it melted on his beak. “One,” he whispered, but the wind went whoosh, the sea went slap-slap, and his feet skidded on the shiny ice.

Until one day, Orlo set himself a tiny challenge: sit still through three whole snow swirls. Because of that, his scarf stopped flapping and made a warm wool nest around his chin. Because of that, the floe drifted softly beside a blue iceberg, where the wind sounded like a faraway flute. At last, one snowflake landed on his scarf and stayed. Orlo smiled. He had not found quiet; quiet had found him, right where he belonged. Can you spot the snowflake that might be waiting for “one”?
