Every day, Nico rolled into the construction yard before lunch and dropped one load of rocks with a BOOM that made the orange cones wobble. He wanted his rumble to be the biggest sound between the dirt hill and the crane, bigger than the excavator’s clank and the bucket’s scrape.
Until one day, a tall striped measuring post in his truck bed blinked at him. “Psst. Your rocks are offbeat,” it said, smelling faintly of wet paint and gravel dust. Because of that, Nico dumped the rocks one by one: bonk, plink, thud. Because of THAT, the crane hook swung like a bell, the cones tapped hollow notes, and the excavator scooped a crunchy drumroll.
Soon the whole yard was laughing too loudly to work. Nico gave one extra bounce, and the happiest BOOM rolled over the dirt hill for everyone to answer. Next time you spot that smiling post riding with the rocks, can you hear the bonk, plink, thud begin again?
