🎨 How to color it

Layer the girl's flowing hair in moonlit silver, the giant lotus in blush pink, the leafy vines in deep emerald, and the crescent sky in indigo blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny stars, henna-like clothing patterns, and curled tendrils, working from the smallest details outward so your hand does not smudge them. Try a warm pink-to-gold glow at the center of the lotus, letting it contrast with the cool night colors around the moon.

At the edge of the moon pond, Vianne kept a silver cup under her shawl, waiting for one clean sip of moonwater before the lilies closed. The air smelled of wet leaves and star jasmine, and every ripple sounded like a secret being folded smaller. She stepped from her warm mat onto the cool stones, past vines that brushed her ankles, because the brightest reflection always floated just beyond reach.

A white moth settled on the cup’s rim. “Not that one,” it whispered, its wings making a papery hush. Vianne followed it to the oldest lotus, paying with a torn hem and cold toes as mud tugged at her sandals. In the flower’s heart lay no water at all, only a soft pale light trembling as if it had been waiting to be noticed.

She carried the light back carefully, but it would not stay in the cup. It slipped over her fingers, touched the pond, and woke every closed lily at once. Joy rose so suddenly that Vianne laughed into both hands, then opened them wide for the reeds, the moth, the hidden frogs, and anyone awake under the stars. By morning, her silver cup was empty, and the whole moon pond was keeping the secret bigger.
