🎨 How to color it

Color the tent a soft teal, the little flag sunset orange, the pine trees deep forest green, and the campfire bright yellow with red-orange edges. Use sharp colored pencils for the flag stripes, tent seams, and small stars, then switch to broader strokes for the rolling hills and open night sky. Try a navy-to-purple sky gradient so the crescent moon and star shapes glow around the campsite.

The story behind this coloring page

The Whisper Past the Tent — Past the tent flap, Arden kept one eye on the little flag and one eye on the sky. Read the full story →

Past the tent flap, Arden kept one eye on the little flag and one eye on the sky. A star had dropped behind the black pines with a wink, and Arden wanted it for the flagpole before anyone else heard about it. The campfire popped, sweet with smoky sap. “Don’t tell,” Arden whispered to their boots, and stepped beyond the warm circle of light.

The trail was darker than expected. Pine needles pricked through a sock where a lace had come loose, and every pebble sounded loud. Then something brushed Arden’s sleeve: a pale moth, soft as flour dust, circling once, twice, then floating toward the bushes. Arden followed, paying the price of one muddy knee and three heart-thumps.

Behind the logs waited no star, only a curl of birch bark glowing silver in moonlight. Arden almost turned back. But the moth landed on it, and the bark shone like a secret banner. Arden carried it to the tent and tied it beneath the flag, where it fluttered small and brave. If you peek at the flagpole, you might spot the kind of shine that only appears after you step past the tent flap.
