🎨 How to color it

Color the princess’s dress in royal violet with gold star trim, the harp in honey brown and pale gold, the stage curtains in ruby red, and the hanging banners in deep blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny swirls on the arch, dress panels, and harp column, then fill the wider skirt and castle stones with smoother strokes. Try making the floating music notes rainbow-bright, as if every plucked string sends a different color through the hall.

Every day before the Dawn Festival, Arden ran to the music hall and wound the old harp with a dull brass key. Click-click, hum-hum—the strings answered, and the cooks, guards, and stable kids hurried in to practice their parade song. Arden kept the key on a ribbon because it had been her mother’s, though most people thought it was only a tool.

Until one day, the key turned, but no sound came. Because of that, the hall filled with boot-stomps, spoon-clacks, and worried whispers instead of music. Because of that, Arden heard something tiny inside the silence: a trapped note buzzing like a bee behind the harp’s carved crown.

“Everybody, make room for one loud joy!” she cried. She struck the strings with both hands, and the brass key flashed warm as toast. The hidden note burst free, bounced through the banners, and pulled every voice after it. If you follow the flying notes, you might hear the same click-click, hum-hum.
