🎨 How to color it

Give the princess’s cape a royal blue, her crown a bright gold, the two little dragons a soft green, and the castle roofs a lavender purple. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big cape, skirt, and tower roofs, and don’t worry if the color hops over a line. Try making every star on her cape and in the clouds a different cheerful color, like yellow, pink, and sky blue.

Above the cool castle roofs, Elowen held her arms straight and tried her little challenge: one whole glide without a wiggle. The night air smelled like rain on stone. Her cape floated behind her, soft as a bedsheet on the line. “Steady,” she whispered, while the striped towers slipped by below.

She passed one cloud, then another. A tiny star blinked on her crown, but Elowen kept waiting. Then she heard it—flap-flap, peep! Two baby dragons were copying her, holding their tails still and their wings wide.

Elowen smiled and glided even slower. The dragons slowed too, calm and bright in the hush. By the time the moon peeked out, three patient flyers crossed the sky together; can you find the little friends who waited with her?
