🎨 How to color it

Color the tall saguaro cactus cactus green, the round sun golden yellow, and the rolling dunes peach and tan. Use chunky crayons for the big sun and hills, and don’t worry if little hands color over the simple lines. Try making the winding path a silly orange stripe, like it is sneaking through the sand.

The story behind this coloring page

Bix and the Sneaky Sun — Every evening, Bix tapped a tin cup and waited for the sun to go boom behind the dunes. Clink-clank, clink-clank! Read the full story →

Every evening, Bix tapped a tin cup and waited for the sun to go boom behind the dunes. Clink-clank, clink-clank! Until one day, the boom went… squeak.

Because of that, Bix chased the squeak down the sandy path. Because of THAT, the cactus shadow wiggled and popped open like a little door. Inside sat a beetle band with tiny drums. “Again!” cried Bix. Finally, the sun squeaked, the beetles boomed, and the dunes giggled. Can you find where the cactus shadow might hide a door next time?
